Catholic Men at the Service of the Gospel
Facts about the Knights of Columbus

We Choose Life!!!We belong to the largest Catholic fraternal organization. We proclaim Jesus as our Lord and profess our loyalty to his vicar, the Pope. Our organization is founded on the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

  • Charity. Our love of God leads us to love our neighbours. We show our love by conducting food drives and volunteering at community events. We stand for life and play an important part in the Respect for Life movements within our diocese.

  • Unity. We stand behind Peter the Rock. We stand united with our bishop and pastors. We stand behind the Catholic Church. Members of the Knights of Columbus are committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church. We show this unity by supporting our seminarians through prayer and through monetary gifts.

  • Fraternity. We believe in taking care of our members. The order was established to provide assistance to widows and children when the family breadwinner died. Our insurance products are top-rated and the Knights of Columbus continue to look after the welfare of their members and their families. We also provide scholarships to children of Catholic families going to college and universities.

  • Patriotism. Members of the Knights of Columbus are patriots. We are proud of our devotion to God and country.

Squires

Squires EmblemUnder the guidance of Christian Brother Barnabas McDonald (1865-1929), the first Columbian Squires circle was instituted in 1925. Membership in the Squires is for Catholic boys between the ages of 12 and 17. Squires' activities are many, varying from spiritual to active service for the Church and community. Each circle elects officer members from their own rank, teaching skills of leadership and responsibility.

The district has reinstated the Pope Pius XII Circle # 1169. They meet every first Friday of the month at the Council # 1256 Chambers. Part of our meeting includes catechism. We are currently discussing the Ten Commandments.
